Michael Bay’s fifth and final offering in the Transformers franchise is here and the much-awaited trailer of Transformers: The Last Knight was unveiled this week. The new trailer for The Last Knight has every material Transformers’ fans will yearn for and guess what’s making this trailer go viral overnight? There is a clear feminist side to it.
I know how endearing it could get when you hear of a female lead in Hollywood’s biggest brand. The trailer spotlights on a young girl, Isabela Moner, who is playing an orphan after the Battle of Chicago in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
The lead in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Mark Wahlberg, seems to now have given up the reign to Isabela in the upcoming movie and he looks to be a part of the film as just a supporting character. The leading man would be seen mentoring a girl this time in the Transformers’ battles.

Isabela is the new protagonist, changing the healthy dose of the action film based on the Transformers toy line (highly intelligent robots who take shapes of cars and trucks – but you know that already!), leading the next generation from the front and center. The key character (a girl) added to the series is automatically catching attention with lines like ‘They say, you run like a girl! You throw like a girl! You fight like a girl!’ to be precise.
The 10-year-old franchise is evidently working on the way to change the dynamics a bit. Till now, we have been enjoying these alien invaders but friendly robots kicking other foe robots’ ass far too much and now it’s time to see a girl fight LIKE A GIRL! Always been male-dominated films with giant robots, now get a glimpse of a character who clearly is meant to stand alone. A girl who intimidates the past lead character to fight back.
Now let’s see what exactly is happening in the trailer. As we watch a little orphan Jessica Chobot (character name) joining the battle of Chicago survivor, and we couldn’t stop but notice her potentiality as a badass feminist who would battle through this film.
The Nickelodeon star seems to have grasped the character’s nuances right. She would eventually be the leader of a bunch of kids who have been orphaned after the Robocalypse. Wahlberg, on the other hand — as sculptured as ever — would help the 15-year-old in a fight that surrounds a long past on planet Earth, no matter the consequence. The battle would focus on present day, a world where survivors (humans) and the living robots are at war with each other. Other than these, the film has every action sequences a fan would ask for. There’s plenty of explosions and countless flying machines and not forgot to mention — a collection of Fighters in a doomed world.
Later in the trailer, Izzy boasts: ‘Fight like a girl? Yeah I fight like a girl. Don’t you?’
The Girl Power rises!
And of course, who wouldn’t want to see a Transformer dinosaur throwing up cars?
