A Senior American journalist and political commentator has been receiving a lot of flak after she asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he was on Twitter.

Ironic because the PM has 30 million followers compared to Kelly’s 2.3 million.

On meeting Kelly ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia, the PM had joked that he had seen her tweet with the umbrella, after which Kelly asked him if he was on Twitter. According to a Twiplomacy study, he is the third most followed political leader in the world.

Kelly, who is trending on the Internet is also in the news for being trolled for wearing an ‘unconventional dress’ at a state dinner party where she spoke with PM Modi and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. The exclusive interview will mark Kelly's debut on NBC News.

As soon as she tweeted the pictures of her with the two leaders, people started commenting on her dress. Kelly was wearing a blue, off shoulder velvet dress, with black pumps.

"What an inappropriate dress; so unprofessional and embarrassing for America!"said one user.

Another user said "@megynkelly @nbc you are making us professional women look bad. We would never wear this dress in a prof. setting."

Why is she wearing a cocktail dress for an interview? @MSNBC going for low-information viewers again like their $1bn earned media for Trump,” said a user.

Recently actress Priyanka Chopra was trolled for wearing a knee-length dress while meeting PM Modi in Berlin.  Comments such as "Priyanka, you were sitting with the Prime Minister of our country. You should have at least had the basic sense of covering your legs," surfaced on the Internet.
