With two of her films Fitoor and Baar Baar Dekho not faring well, Katrina Kaif didn’t have the best luck at the box office last year. But 2017 looks better already with the quirky and colourful trailer of Jagga Jasoos which was recently released. And it has also been announced that the actress will be a speaker at the prestigious Oxford University this year.
According to a recent press release by the University’s Student Union, Kaif will be a speaker in the Stage and Screen field at Oxford University, sometime in February (the date is yet to be confirmed). The actress will be speaking at an event titled, ‘Hilary2017: Stars of Sports, Media and Culture’. She’ll be joining an illustrious list of speakers boasting of Hollywood names like Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, House of Cards‘ Robin Wright, Sherlock‘s Mark Gatiss, Game of Throne‘s Sean Bean and 90210‘s Annalynne McCord.
An excerpt from her introduction reads, “Katrina Kaif is one of the highest-paid actresses and models in Bollywood, best known for Ek Tha Tiger and Dhoom 3, two of the most successful Bollywood films of all time. Her modelling career has included work for Coca-Cola, LG and Blackberry. Kaif is also highly involved with her mother’s charitable trust, Relief Projects India, which strives to improve the rights of women and children in India.”
A few years ago, Shah Rukh Khan was greatly applauded for his speech at Yale University and we hope that Katrina’s appearance is as insightful. Actresses like Angelina Jolie, Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Natalie Portman and Rashida Jones have all been speakers at Ivy League schools and top universities in the UK and US and we hope Kaif’s stint is a memorable one, which will only add to her fans worldwide. We wish the actress all the best!
