India and Argentina’s Senior Women’s Hockey team settle on a draw

India’s second match of the tour in Argentina against the host ends on a draw. This was the first of the matches for India against the senior women’s team of Argentina during the tournament. The match which ended on an even score of 2-2 will be followed by two other matches on 22nd and 25th November.

The first half of the match witnessed India aggressively leading. The team opened the score line in the 27 minute with Anuradah Devi knocking in the first goal. The team continued to maintain this score during the entire first half.  Within 4 minutes of the beginning of second half Argentina shoot their first goal making the score even 1-1. Vandana Katariya turned the lead again into India’s favour by striking the second goal at 44 minutes. The match came to even with Argentina marking their second goal at 56 minutes.

“It was an important match for us as the team were playing with one of the leading international teams. The girls played very well and made best use to key learnings from the last match. India played a very defensive style of game that relied on counter attacks. We look forward to continue with such effort in upcoming matches.” said Neil Hawgood, Chief Coach, Indian Women’s Hockey Team.
