After her recent surgery, badminton ace Saina Nehwal is getting ready for her comeback at the China Super Series Premier, which is starting from November 15. But the shuttler does not appear to be her confident self. “I also think somewhere deep in my heart that maybe it is the end of my career,” said Saina Nehwal, as reported by ESPN.in.
The former world number one told the website, “It is okay, many people will think my career will end and I won’t come back. I also think somewhere deep in my heart that maybe it is the end of my career, so let’s see how it is. Maybe, you never know.”
The 26-year-old badminton ace, added, ”I will be more than happy if people think I am finished, it is nice in a way, people think a lot about me, maybe now they won’t. I am going to think about the next one year, it is year by year now, I am not going to set a target for the next 5-6 years now.”
Following her statement, her fans reacted on twitter:
Post-surgery, Saina is yet to be fully fit as she started training early. Recently, Saina became a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletics Commission. The shuttler had failed to show expected performance at the Olympics and had developed a fracture in her right knee. She made an early exit and was out of competitive action since August 20.
Following surgery, the Hyderabadi went for a rehabilitation process and then resumed her regular training recently under coach Vimal Kumar.
We hope she returns as a winner.
