Forbes India's 30 Under 30 list 2015, features some of the brightest women in India today. Read on to know who all made it to the list.

Forbes India reveals ‘30 Under 30’ list featuring 14 women!

Where India struggles with various issues and questionable ideologies of a surprisingly high number of people in the country; it’s also home to some brilliant minds. Forbes India recently released its ‘30 Under 30 list for 2015.’ Amongst these bright minds, the youngest person was an 18 year old woman guitarist- Mohini Dey. And out of all the people featured in the list, 14 were female! This is almost twice as many as featured in the last year's list.

Telling the inspiring tale of these exceptional young achievers, the list started with a statutory warning that said: “The stories that follow may cause heart  burn.  And force the stinging question: What the @#$* was I doing at their age? We recommend you wear your most gracious smile and learn to revel in the brilliance of Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 list.”

 

This year’s list also broke some stereotypes identified with gender. While the NGOs & Social Entrepreneurship list featured 4 men and just one woman; Law, Policy & Politics list only featured women.

 

The women featured on the list were in diverse fields and not just in entertainment. These were:

Mohini Dey (18)

A bass-guitarist, Dey has been playing in concerts since she was 10 years old. She has performed for Coke Studio India and played with artists like Zakir Hussain and John McLaughlin.

 

Swaraup Ananth-Sawkar (28)

She is a Percussionist & Music Producer at Filter Coffee Productions. Sawkar plays a whole range of percussion instruments including djembe, darbuka, cajon, dhol, amongst others and has worked with music maestros like Ram Sampath.

 

 Neeti Kailas (29)

Neeti Kailas is an entrepreneur and a design strategist and lives in Bangalore. She is the director and co-founder of Sohum Innovation Lab that develops market-driven solutions to improve the health and incomes of people living in resource-poor settings.

 

Shraddha Kapoor (27)

Daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor, she made her debut in 2010 and is one of the most upcoming actresses in Bollywood.  In 2013, BollywoodHungama, called her "one of the most wanted names" in the advertising industry.

 

Aditi Mittal (28)

Aditi Mittal is an Indian stand-up comedian, actress and writer. She was one of the first women stand-up comediennes in India, and has been rated amongst India’s top stand-up comedians. She recently also featured as a part of the Roast panel on the AIB Knockout.

 

Ruchika Sachdeva (27)

Founder of  ‘Bodice,’ a fashion brand, Sachdeva in an interview with Wearabout said, “ The creative part of having a design label comes naturally, but the business part of it – which is all numbers, taxation, and costing – takes a lot more effort.”

 

Guneet Kaur, Isha Khandelwal & Parijata Bharadwaj (24, 25, 26)

The three lawyers are the co-founders of Jagdalpur Legal Aid Group, and have set up shop in the Maoist-hit areas of Chhattisgarh. They are focused at helping the people in these regions despite running the risk of being called Maoist sympathizers.

 

Shreya Rastogi & Lubhyathi Rangarajan (24, 27)

Both Rastogi and Rangarajan are Legal activists at the Death Penalty Litigation Clinic in National Law University, New Delhi.

 

Prukalpa Sankar (23)

Sankar is the co-founder of Social Cops, a technology social enterprise, that has won it various global accolades including the World Youth Summit Award and the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition.

 

Prerna Sharma (27)

Prerna Sharma is an Assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Science.she has been working on various research topics, including Tuning the interfacial properties of colloidal membranes by Geometrical Edgeactants Tuning the interfacial properties of colloidal membranes by Geometrical Edgeactants

 

PV Sindhu (19)

Sindhu is an Indian badminton player. In 2013, she became the first ever Indian woman to win a medal in singles at the World Championships and has been honoured with a Padma Shri by the Government of India.
