1. Six year old UP girl becomes the youngest trekker to reach the Kangchenjunga Base Camp

 It's a climb that tests even the most experienced treckkers, but little Suryassangyini Chaudhary set an unbelievable record by hoisting the Indian tri-colour at the 16,300-foot-high Kangchenjunga base camp on March 7. Accompanied by her father, mother, and two sisters, the six year old hailing from Baraut in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh created history by becoming the youngest person to have trekked to this height.The family began their tough journey from Baghpat on February 27th and finished nine days later, triumphing over harsh conditions and sub zero temperatures. Suryassangyini was rewarded for her achievement with a certificate by the gram panchayat of west Sikkim village.No small feat this!

2. Hockey India announces a reward of Rs one lakh for the Women’s Team

The Indian women's hockey team made us proud by qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics to be held later this year. Considering that this comes 36 years after their last outing which was in 1980 at the Moscow Olympics, this indeed calls for a celebration. And Hockey India has decided to chip in, by announcing a cash prize of One lakh rupees for the entire team and it's support staff. The prize ceremony will be held in Bangalore on March 26. Here's hoping that the team ups their game and puts their best foot forward at the Olympics in August!

3. Indian Air Force to welcome it's first ever Women Fighter Pilots soon

On June 18th women will break through yet another glass ceiling as Bhawana Kanth, Mohana Singh and Avani Chaturvedi will be commissioned as India's first women fighter pilots. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha made this annoucement on International Women’s Day, bringing cheer to the women in uniform who have been lobbying for a place in combat for many years now. Of the trio undergoing the second phase of their training, Bhawana nurtured this dream from childhood, while Mohana comes from a family of Air Force officers. As for Avani, she can't wait to take up the challenge. It will indeed be a proud day for all of us, when these women take to the skies!

4. Spicejet flies 'Women Of Substance' On All-Women Crew Flight

Twenty women from rural hinterlands had a rare treat this International Women's day as SpiceJet flew them on an all-women crew flight to Banguluru. Selected by former IPS officer Kiran Bedi's India Vision Foundation and Navjyoti India Foundation, these "women of substance" were chosen as they exemplified an indomitable spirit, having faced violence, social obstacle and in some cases even imprisonment. Spicejet itself flew all women crews that day in as many as ten flights.

5. India's First All-Women Ultimate Frisbee Team to compete in London 

Looks like Indian women are aiming to conquer all frontiers, even frisbee! So India’s first Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team is now getting ready to compete in the  first World Ultimate & Gut Championships in London, in June. The twenty member team is made up of women from cities like Chennai, Bangalore and New Delhi, with two from Japan and Germany, who have been living in India for a year. The team kicked off a crowd funding campaign on March 8th to raise funds for training and expenses, which is over in excess of Forty lakh rupees.  Here's hoping they get the funds play some serious frisbee!
