With Nandita Das' Zwigato, comedian-actor Kapil Sharma is now winning hearts. Zwigato, which depicts the plight of a food delivery person, was well received by the audience. The movie premiered on March 17. Zwigato's entertainment tax has now been abated by the state of Odisha. On March 22, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the same announcement. The film was shot in Bhubaneswar in just 25 days in 2021.

Kapil Sharma's Zwigato Declared Tax Free in Odisha:

The evening of March 22 at Naveen Niwas, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended a special screening of Zwigato. He later approved the movie's exemption from the entertainment tax. According to a CMO release, the state government is actively pushing Odisha as a location for movie shootings. The CM commended Nandita Das for her efforts in promoting Odisha as a location for shooting commercial movies.

Das, who previously helmed the films Firaaq and Manto, thanked the chief minister of Odisha for exempting Zwigato from the state's entertainment tax. The cast of the movie actually included local actors in addition to the four to five key roles who are from Mumbai, according to Nandita Das.

More About Zwigato:

Zwigato, which is set in the Odisha city of Bhubaneswar, centers on the life of delivery boy Manas, played by Kapil Sharma. During the COVID-19 outbreak, he lost his steady job as a factory floor supervisor and now works as a food delivery worker to sustain himself. The movie just follows him as he goes about his daily business, complete with ratings, fines, and the pursuit of incentives to survive the financial crisis. Shahana Goswami, who plays his wife, contributes and performs odd things like providing massages at wealthy people's homes. This fiercely debated movie explores the lives of "ordinary people" and was written and directed by Nandita Das.

In September 2022, the movie made its global premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It is produced by Nandita Das Initiatives and Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment.
