Trailer Of Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi And Drashti Dhami Starrer "The Empire" Out

The Empire trailer released: Kunal Kapoor and Shabana Azmi-starrer fiction saga of a warrior-turned-king The Empire's official trailer was unveiled on Saturday, August 7. The Mughal-era drama also features Dino Morea and Drashti Dhami in pivotal roles. Filmmakers Nikkhil Advani and Mitakshara Kumar co-directed the series.

Actor Kunal Kapoor makes his digital debut with this series. Aditya Seal, Sahher Bambba and Rahul Dev will also be seen in key roles. Mitakshara Kumar also makes his directorial debut with the series. He has also co-written this historical saga with Bhavani Iyer.

The Empire is based on the book Empire of the Moghul: Raiders from the North written by Alex Rutherford. The eight-episode series traces the origins of a dynasty. This specific book chronicles the journey of Emperor Babur, "from the valley of Ferghana to Samarkand and beyond". Kapoor had earlier unveiled his look from the upcoming show. He shared the motion poster of the web-series, writing in his Instagram post, "An emperor's quest for the throne is about to begin."

Sharing details about his character, the Don 2 actor said that playing the role of a Mughal ruler for the show has been challenging but fun since they shot across India and Uzbekistan. The Empire is billed as "the biggest show ever created in India" and Kapoor stressed about the hardwork put up by the makers who have paid special attention to the characters' looks. Kapoor added his role is fierce and emotionally complex at the same time.

Azmi, meanwhile, said that she loved the stories from history where women play strategic roles, much like her character in The Empire. She is fierce and confident, Azmi added. Television actor Drshti Dhami also shared the trailer on her Twitter handle on Saturday.
