Did Rekha Perform The Jamal Kudu Signature Step Before Bobby Deol?

Recently, an old clip resurfaced featuring veteran actor Rekha performing a similar dance step with a glass on her head in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi. This revelation showed that the signature Jamal Kudu step was originally introduced by Rekha 32 years ago. Her flawless execution of the dance move demonstrated her mastery, establishing her as the originator of this iconic step.

Following the resurfacing of Rekha's video, fans began referring to her as the "OG" (original) of the dance move. Admirers praised both Rekha and Bobby for their captivating performances in the respective songs.

Earlier, Bobby Deol, responding to the viral scene, shared insights during an interview with Bollywood Spy. He revealed that the choreographer initially challenged him to come up with a unique dance move. Deol recalled drawing inspiration from childhood memories of Punjab, where people would balance glasses on their heads while intoxicated. This nostalgic memory inspired Bobby's rendition of the Jamal Kudu step in the film Animal.

Deol stated, "When we started shooting, the choreographer said, ‘You do it.’ I was like, ‘What will I do?’ I started dancing, and he told me, 'No, no. Don’t do it like Bobby Deol.’ Then Saurabh, who plays my brother, told me, 'Can you do and show? How would you do it?' Then I suddenly remembered the time when I was small and we used to go to Punjab. I remember how we used to get drunk and keep glasses on our heads. I never understood why we did it. It suddenly came to mind, and I did that."

Bobby's innovative approach to the dance step added a modern twist to an iconic move, which was already performed by Rekha three decades ago.
