Love You My Angel: Actor Jamie Foxx Remembers Late Sister Deondra On Down Syndrome Day

Jamie Foxx pays a heartfelt tribute to sister Deondra Dixon, who faced Down Syndrome till her passing last year in October.

American actor Jamie Foxx posted a tribute to his late sister Deondra Dixon on Instagram, in view of World Down Syndrome Day marked March 21. Dixon had passed away last year in October after facing the genetic chromosome disorder for 36 years.

Remembering her, Foxx wrote Sunday, "My heart ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” my breath ... my soul... I hear your laughter in the house... I hear you sliding down the stairs... my heart... my breath... my soul... I love u Deondra my angelย #worlddownsyndromeday2021"

Foxx, informing fans of his sister's demise in October 2020, had written on Instagram, "My heart is shattered into a million pieces... my beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned... I say transitioned because she will always be alive... Anyone who knew my sis... knew that she was a bright light... our family is shattered but we will put the pieces back together with your love."

Who Was Deondra Dixon?

Deondra Dixon was born in Texas and through her younger years, participated and won in several Special Olympics competitions. Since high school graduation in 2002 from Terrell High School, she had lived with Foxx and the rest of her family.

In 2009, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation presented her with the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award, which was created in her honour. In 2011, she became the brand ambassador for the foundation as well.

Dixon aspired to be a dancer and had appeared in her brother's Blame It song video. She was a vocal advocate of equal living for persons with Down Syndrome. "Lots of kids with Down syndrome never get a chance to shine or chase their dreams. Together we will make dreams come true," she believed.
