In the ongoing season of Bigg Boss, there is a diverse mix of contestants from various sectors of the entertainment industry. One of the participants, Sana Raees Khan, is a criminal lawyer who gained recognition as the legal representative for Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, during the Mumbai Cruise Drugs Case in 2021. However, her decision to join the reality show has sparked controversy.

Ashutosh Dubey, a prominent lawyer at the Bombay High Court, has raised objections to Sana Raees Khan's participation in Bigg Boss 17. He believes that her involvement in the show violates the regulations established by the Bar Council. In response to this, he has formally lodged a complaint with the Bar Council of India.

Dubey has emphasised that according to rules 47 to 52 of the Bar Council of India Rules, advocates are prohibited from pursuing other forms of employment to earn income. Additionally, Section 49(1)(c) of the Advocates Act, 1961, restricts practising advocates from engaging in full-time employment in other fields.

Khan is a criminal lawyer who practises before the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court, where she has worked with numerous high-profile cases.

One of her notable cases was representing Avin Sahu in the Cordelia drug case. This case gained significant attention when Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with it. Aryan Khan was later released on bail.

Khan also took on the role of representing the prime accused, Indrani Mukerjea, in the Sheena Bora murder case. In another case, Khan served as the legal counsel for Vaibhav Raut, a member of the Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha. Raut faced accusations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with the Nalasopara arms haul case of 2018.

Apart from Khan, several other contestants participated in Bigg Boss 17, including Ankita Lokhande, Jigna Vora, Munawar Faruqui, Vicky Jain, Aishwarya Sharma, Neil Bhatt, Mannara Chopra, Navid Sole, Anurag Dobhal, Soniya Bansal, Firoza Khan, Sunny Arya, Rinku Dhawan, Arun Mashettey, Isha Malviya, and Abhishek Kumar.
