Akshara Haasan Starrer 'Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu' To Premiere on OTT

Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu (The Myth of Good Girl), a Tamil comedy, drama film, starring Akshara Haasan and Usha Uthup will premiere on March 25. The film also stars Malgudi Subha, Anjana Jayaprakash, Janaki Sabesh and Suresh Chandra Menon in pivotal roles. Writer-Producer Raja Ramamurthy is making his directorial debut with the Tamil dramedy which has been screened at coveted film festivals before its release on the Amazon Prime Video.

A popular axiom in Tamil says that a girl should possess these four ‘ideal’ qualities: Achcham (Fear), Madam (Innocence), Naanam (Coyness) and Payirppu (Chastity) and the film derives its name from the saying. The plot focuses on 19-year-old Pavithra’s (Haasan) journey to strike a balance between societal expectations and personal desire.

The coming-of-age ">dramedy’s release on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video has elated the writer-director. Ramamurthy said that he was honoured to have a young actor like Akshara and a seasoned Veteran like Usha Uthup star in his film. He mentioned that the film was shot with a predominantly female cast and crew which has helped enhance the film because of their perspectives.

Dubbing it as a relatable story, the director mentioned, “I worked with a predominantly female cast and crew, and their inputs helped bring to life the female perspective brilliantly. I am confident that viewers across the country will enjoy our labour of love.”

Meanwhile, the leading lady Akshara Haasan said that the story compelled her to take the role. The actor added that every young adult will relate to her character and that audience across India will love the film.

The film also marks Usha Uthup’s return to Tamil cinema after a decade. The musician-actor, while speaking about the film and her role noted that it is a special film for her. Uthup will be essaying the character of Akshara’s grandmother who is a veteran Carnatic singer in the film. “I am quite thrilled with the way the film has turned out. Not only is it an entertaining watch, but also has a very important message for the audience- to be honest with yourself and your feelings,” Uthup said.
