The upcoming 72nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant is scheduled to be held in El Salvador on November 18, showcasing representatives from 90 diverse countries worldwide.

The much-awaited 72nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant is approaching, generating immense anticipation for the crowning of the next Miss Universe. Scheduled for November 18 in El Salvador, this international beauty contest will witness participation from representatives hailing from 90 diverse countries, all competing for the esteemed title currently held by R'Bonney Gabriel from the United States. 

Organisers have disclosed that the selection process for the next Miss Universe will involve various segments, including personal statements, comprehensive interviews, and showcases featuring evening gowns and swimwear.

TV presenters Jeannie Mai Jenkins and Maria Menounos, along with former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, are set to host the pageant. Additionally, the event will be heightened by a live musical performance from the iconic 12-time Grammy winner, John Legend. The anticipation is palpable as the world awaits the crowning of the next global beauty queen during this thrilling and glamorous event showcasing talent and elegance.

The Host Country:

This year, El Salvador has been selected as the host country for the Miss Universe pageant, which will take place in San Salvador, the capital, at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena, accommodating up to 13,000 spectators.

The national costume competition is set for November 16 at 9:00 p.m. EST, following the preliminary competition on November 15 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Notably, this year's event will collaborate with Live Bash, a platform streaming both competitions live. Telemundo will broadcast it in Spanish within the US, while the Roku Channel will offer streaming access.

For Indian viewers, the final competition will be available for streaming on Miss Universe's YouTube channel and X account starting at 6:30 a.m. on November 19, according to Indian Standard Time.

India's Representative:

India's representative for the 72nd Miss Universe competition is Shweta Sharda. The winner of the 2023 Miss Diva Universe title, Shweta, is a 22-year-old model and dancer originally from Chandigarh.

She relocated to Mumbai with her mother at the age of sixteen and pursued her undergraduate studies at the Indira Gandhi National Open University. She gained visibility through her appearances on prominent TV reality shows like Dance Deewane, Dance Plus, and Dance India Dance. Beyond her role as a contestant, she has also secured a choreographer position on Jhalak Dikhlaja.

The upcoming Miss Universe pageant holds significant importance this year, as it introduces pioneering changes in the organisation's history, emphasising a strong dedication to advancement and inclusivity. Making history at the upcoming competition are Maria Camila Avella Montañez from Colombia and Michelle Cohn from Guatemala, who will be the first married women and mothers to compete in the pageant.
