After Priyanka Chopra, now Deepika Padukone has made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show this week for promoting her recent Hollywood venture xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.
The episode, which will be telecast in India on Thursday, has the 31-year-old Padukone speak about her father (badminton champion Prakash Padukone), her acting career and her equation with actor Vin Diesel.
Speaking about how she got the part of Serena Unger in the film, she said, “I actually auditioned for Fast and Furious 7 about two-three years ago, but for whatever reason, that didn’t work out. And I think people remember me from that audition. And then, about a year ago, I get a call from Paramount Pictures saying they are casting for this film and so I flew down and met director DJ Caruso.”
She then mentioned how when Vin heard about her visit, he insisted that she must come down to Los Angeles and see him as well. The actress explains her confusion, “Suddenly, in the middle of the night, we are doing this 45-minute professional photoshoot and I was like, ‘What is going on!” Initially, just a photograph was put out of the two, with Deepika completely in the dark whether she had actually got the part. She joked that she still doesn’t know if she has got the part.
This was the first American talk show Deepika was a part of and she was asked about her relationship with actor Vin Diesel. “There is no smoke without fire…but it is all in my head, you know.” To which Ellen promptly replied, saying, “I don’t!”
“So yeah, I mean in my head I think, like yeah, we are together and we have this amazing chemistry, and we live together and we have these amazing babies! But it’s all in my head,” says Deepika, which cracks up the live audience.
Deepika has also appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden where she showed Corden how to do the ‘Lungi Dance‘.
