Indian Bride-To-Be Tweets To Sushma Swaraj To Get Visa For Her Pakistani Friend

All this Indian bride-to-be wanted was that her Pakistani bridesmaid could attend her marriage. But due to the conflict between the two countries, her visa application to New Delhi was rejected.

Left with no means, an upset Purvi Thacker, the bride-to-be, on Tuesday shared an emotional post on Facebook dedicated to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, appealing for help and hoping for some good news.

A New York-based freelance journalist, Purvi is set to get married in Mumbai in December. Her best friend Sarah Munir's visa application was rejected by the Indian consulate.

She tweeted:

In reply, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted:

Though Sushma Swaraj is known to help anyone in need, in this case she seems to be taking a bit longer.

Purvi's post has gone viral on social media amid worsening ties between the neighbouring countries.

Purvi even started the #GetSarahtoIndia campaign which has garnered thousand of shares, likes and reactions, making it to news publications on either side of the border.

Now it’s time to wait and see if Swaraj takes a humanitarian view or the two best friends remain separated in this bitter border conflict.
