Bastar Girl In UPSC Top 100, Wants To Transform Region

Namrata Jain has become the first person from the Maoist-hit Bastar to get into the top 100 of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.

The otherwise strife-torn Bastar region has a strong reason to celebrate. Namrata Jain has become the first person from the Maoist-hit Bastar to get into the top 100 of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. With this, Namrata has proved that sheer hard work is what it takes to achieve goals.

Clinching 99th rank in the coveted examination, the Dantewada resident aspires to be an IAS officer and serve Bastar. She also said that she is well-versed with the problems of this region because she was born there.

“I believe that the government should make more attempts to win the faith of the tribals,” she added.

She gives credit to the support she received from her parents, friends and officers from the district as an important factor that encouraged her to do so well

“I personally guided her in matters of internal security and contemporary affairs. It is great that a girl who has studied in Dantewada has got under 100 rank in UPSC,” said Abhishek Pallav, an IPS officer posted in Dantewada.

Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister was among the first ones to wish her.

A lot of people took to twitter to congratulate her for accomplishing this great feat.

Namrata credits the support she received from her parents, friends and officers from the district as an important factor that encouraged her to do so well.

Besides her family members, Namrata also acknowledges the tutelage she received under the coaching institute Lakshya catering to IAS aspirants.

According to UPSC, a total of 1,099 candidates -- including 846 men and 253 women -- have been recommended for appointment to various central government services.
