Arantxa Sanchez to Visits Delhi For Final Showdown of The Rendezvous Roland-Garros

The third edition of the ‘Rendez-vous à Roland-Garros is all set for its grand culmination in New Delhi with 3-time Roland Garros winner Arantxa Sanchez. She will be in the city for the masters’ event where Arantxa will also host a clinic with the 16 finalists. RK Khanna Tennis Stadium will be hosting the masters’ event on the 18th & 19th April, 2017.

After having witnessed successful qualifying legs in Kolkata and Pune, this is the final leg of the third edition of the ‘Rendez-vous à Roland-Garros, which will see a total of 8 boys and 8 girls vying for top honors in order to win a ticket to participate in the wild card playoffs of the Junior French Open 2017 in Paris. The winners will have the opportunity to compete against the best players from USA, Japan, China, Brazil and South Korea.

The Spanish legend said, “The Indian talent that has been on show in the event so far has been impeccable...This is my first trip to India and I am looking forward to interacting with all the finalists and sharing my experience with them.”

Speaking on the occasion, Bernard Giudicelli, President of FFT, expressed his desire to promote young talent in India. He said, “It was only natural for the event to sustain and become so successful. The players in India are top ace and we cannot describe how fruitful this venture has proven to be in tapping some of the finest talents from across the country. I would like to thank AITA for supporting our initiative and making it an even bigger success with each passing year.”

The tournament confirms the collaborative effort put in by both Roland Garros and AITA to organize grassroots championships of international repute in India. This Rendez-vous is instrumental in producing many young talents who have represented the nation in the junior levels.
