• An idea can only be successful as long as you stand by it: Aakansha Modi Of Roots And Herbs

When you walk into the Store of “Roots And Herbs” you are greeted with the aromatic smell of their 100% Ayurvedic essence sticks. And as I found out from the founder and owner of this unique cosmetic brand Aakansha Modi, Ayurveda sells, not just in India, but there is a huge market internationally for her products. .

The first and most obvious question to ask of course is what made her think of producing and marketing a unique product? “Since I was kid I have been brought up in a closely knitted family and have seen my parents and grandparents use ayurvedic products for healing and cosmetic purposes, but as I grew up I saw all the ayurvedic practices were replaced by chemical products made by international brands that were taking over our local markets. I decided to set up a brand which highlighted India and take it up to international markets.”

The novelty of the idea worked for Modi, to the extent that today her brand is hot property in the markets of Dubai and U.S.A,  all thanks to its uniqueness of being the only Indian Brand which is 100% Vegan and chemical free. “I had a very slow start in a small single room with a small amount of 1kg raw products but it kick started well, I believed in my idea and I knew that if I work hard I will get success.”

Was it easy starting off alone as an entrepreneur, I ask her,” It was difficult, not everyone believed in my but my husband did, he supported me through all ups and down no matter what others suggested, other loved me as and when success came in but yes for a woman it is quite difficult to test the water of entrepreneurship.”

An idea can only be successful as long as you stand by it and believe in it

Modi is a strong advocator for a woman’s right to work. “The most important thing for any brand to grow big is the inspiration. My inspiration to start working after marriage was probably embedded in my childhood, I was taught that success and name are to earned and that is how I knew that even after marriage and kids I need to earn my dignity and name. When my kids grow up I will ask them to support their sisters and wives and in fact all women and inspire them to work, make them feel secure at work space. , I employ 95% women because I want them to be independent.”

She had a very special message for all our readers, “To every women who have dreams I will suggest that an idea can only be successful as long as you stand by it and believe in it, the path might be tough, I even had difficult times of failure but that should not stop you from working.”
