The eponymous memorial award pays tribute to one of the WPO’s founders and first financial supporters, Mary Lehman MacLachlan. She fervently believed that women should be able to take care of themselves financially, pursue their independence through business, and support other woman business leaders.

Marsha Firestone Ph.D., WPO President and Founder, explained in a WPO press release why Ms. Gudas was selected as this year’s honoree: “Celeste embodies the qualities of this award, including economic independence, running a financially-sound business, providing positive financial benefits for staff and supporting other business women in her community.”

“Launching, growing and leading a company while inspiring the careers of others are all incredibly rewarding experiences in and of themselves,” said Ms. Gudas, “But being recognized for these efforts by my exceptional WPO colleagues with a reward named after someone I profoundly respect just makes the entire journey even more meaningful.”
